WHO WE ARE

Musicabana is shaping new opportunities to access Cuba’s wealth of musical talent and creativity and to reassert Cuba’s historic role as a preeminent cultural leader in the Americas.

Musicabana is here to guide the international music and media industries in service of equal and fruitful exchange.

We work indigenously and organically, with Cubans, for Cubans.

The Festival

CUBA’S MAJOR INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Cuba is back on the map, front and center as a top global music and cultural destination!

And it’s capital, Habana, offers a truly universal celebration of culture – a unique musical adventure at the epicenter of the Caribbean.

Musicabana successfully staged its first international music festival in 2016, drawing over 450,000 attendees between three venues over two weekends. Its multi-genre bill boasting more than 20 artists, bands, and DJs from around the globe included top acts Major Lazer, Ibeyi, Cedric Gervais and Havana D’Primera.

We are working on our 2017 dates… Stay tuned!

WHAT WE DO

CONNECTING CUBAN YOUTH TO THE WORLD AND THE WORLD WITH CUBAN CULTURE

Musicabana’s mission is to unlock the Caribbean by bringing Cuba –a historic cultural epicenter– back into the global equation.

We aim to build bridges and cultural conduits that have been shut down for over a half-century.

With our music and dance tours, the music festival, a suite of digital content and boutique production services, Musicabana has and will continue to become a revitalizing force and catalyst for cultural change in one of the most connected, culturally rich and diverse regions in the world.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE

A PLATFORM FOR DISCOVERY: WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, STUDIO SESSIONS AND ART PROJECTS

In May 2016, Musicabana curated and sponsored ‘Cuba and the World: New Musical Realities,’ a single-day conference that was organized in conjonction with the Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad (CASA) and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Brown University.

Cuban and international scholars, musicians, and producers convened at Casa de las Américas –one of the oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions in Latin America– to engage in discussions that focused on the new opportunities and challenges facing Cuba’s music scene and industry.
